HA!! Speaking of leaving critical secret messages as simple riddles, one of my (many) beefs with The Da Vinci Code was that an alleged Harvard professor and Da Vinci expert had great difficulty deciphering the backwards writing on the floor of the Louvre. (Maybe this should make me glad I didn't get into Harvard?)

We're rereading Redwall right now, and I, too, am always irritated by the "critical messages as riddles" thing. Such presumption! :-)
