Ahh, it feels good to have read five out of eight of them so far. What about you?Sadly, I couldn't get into the first Westerfeld novel, so the second one isn't on my list -- I maybe need to try again? Or, if you've read the second one, is it stand-alone-y enough to read? I just realized I never reviewed the Cybils nominated Pratchett novel here -- since I read it twice this weekend -- again -- perhaps I should do that!
Has anyone read Hereville? I like a novel with a girl and a sword. That sounds promising...
I liked Behemoth rather more--because the world was already built, and the characters extant, Westerfeld could jump right into Story and move things along swimmingly.

Now Behemoth was some serious WOW loved it.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Doret--I thought Leviathan was good, with a lot of potential, but I'd expected more. Still, I'm looking forward to reading Behemoth. I liked the premise and how the world was set up, and the characters have a lot of potential for growth.
Two of these titles are totally new to me! I'm excited.

And, okay, because you people were lovely about it, I will try Behemoth... after trying to read the first one again. If you PROMISE it gets better...
Always a matter of taste, though...and readers can latch onto completely different aspects of the same book and not have the same experience AT ALL, so there's only so much I can promise! :D
ReplyDeleteI liked Leviathan more than Behemoth, though they both seem quite formulaic. I thought Behemoth seemed like the middle book of a trilogy in which the author is just trying to keep the story going until he gets to the final volume.
